The proper tools make turning your Æbleskiver easier with better results. Choose between Steel Knitting needle, used for cast iron pans, or Bamboo Skewers used for cast iron and recommended for all non-stick surfaces.
To use your selected turning tool while cooking your Æbleskiver, when the batter starts to bubble up and a crust has formed on the edges, use your tool to rim the edges to loosen them. Spin the Æbleskiver while making a 1/4 turn allowing the batter to roll down. Continue making 1/4 turns until the ball is formed. Continue spinning the ball until a needle or skewer is inserted and comes out clean.
